Professional Opportunities: Middle and High School Teachers

"Attending the National Pre-AP Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico, was empowering due to the fact that consultants were presenting strategies, methodologies, and philosophies that were completely and totally in alignment with my thinking and teaching. I was truly inspired by the College Board's commitment to equity, access, and excellence, an attitude that was conveyed throughout the conference. Becoming a consultant for the College Board was the next natural step. As a consultant, I have the opportunity to reach middle and high school teachers, thus promoting my commitment to equity, access, and excellence for all students.

Middle school teachers are key in developing a Pre-AP culture. We provide the building blocks necessary for more students to gain access to rigorous coursework and AP. Each and every day we promote the thinking strategies in our students that help to build critical thinking skills for the college-bound AP student."

Professional Opportunities
Teachers are the foundation on which the community of learning is built. The AP Program recognizes teachers as the key to raising student achievement and excellence levels starting in kindergarten. Their efforts are critical not only to the teaching of students, but also in terms of their contributions as workshop consultants, teaching other teachers at AP and Pre-AP workshops and institutes. Another major contribution that AP teachers can make is scoring AP Exams at the annual AP Readings.

As contributors to the AP Program, teachers also enjoy the open dialogue and exchange of ideas with other educational professionals contributing to the AP Program, including college faculty, school administrators, counselors, and other high school and middle school teachers.

The Advanced Placement Program invites all educational professionals to join the AP community. To learn more, select one of the choices below.
