Interpretive Communication in Pre-AP World Languages and Culture

In this workshop for middle and high school teachers, you will learn concrete strategies for developing the skills and knowledge students need at the Pre-AP® level in a target language. You will also examine the AP® Achievement Level Descriptions and World Language Performance Levels from the Curriculum Alignment Guide and the Standards for Foreign Language Learning in the 21st Century.

Length: 1 day

Learning outcomes

After attending this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Implement strategies for developing students’ listening and reading skills in the Interpretive Communication mode, use authentic texts in instruction; and differentiate instruction and assessment.
  • Incorporate the AP Achievement Level Descriptions, the World Language Performance Levels in the Curriculum Alignment Guide, and the Standards for Foreign Language Learning in the 21st Century into classroom instruction.
