Janet Andersen has taught mathematics at both the high school and college level since 1980.
Professional Experience: Janet started her career teaching high school for four years in east Texas. After completing her graduate work at the University of Minnesota in 1991, she became a faculty member at Hope College, where she is currently Associate Professor and Chair of Mathematics. She is co-author of Projects for Precalculus and Precalculus: A Study of Functions and Their Applications, both of which were developed through support from a 1993 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). She was also the Principal Investigator for a 1997 NSF grant that led to the development of a general education course titled Mathematics in Public Discourse that is linked to two science general education courses. Her most recent NSF grant is funding the creation of a joint biology and mathematics course that she is co-teaching in spring 2002. She is also the Director of the PEW Midstates Science and Mathematics Consortium.
