Home > AP Teacher Standards AP Teacher Standards Recommendations for Excellence The AP Teacher Standards stem from an effort by the AP Program to clarify the high standards it has for AP teachers. The recommendations in this document draw on the standards established by professional teaching organizations, through educational research, and through the valuable experiences of those who have been part of the AP community. The AP Teacher Standards document is divided into five categories: Content knowledge Teacher certification Pedagogy and student learning Analysis and reflection Ongoing professional development While there will always be room for discussion regarding the precise requirements necessary for AP-level teaching, we believe the elements described will provide schools, teachers, and the educational community with practical guidance in these five areas.
