Bill Zeigler

Bill Zeigler is a teacher at Valhalla High School in El Cajon, California, and a College Board® faculty consultant.
Professional experience: Bill has been in Valhalla High School's humanities department since 1989, teaching history and English. He began Valhalla's AP programs in American studies in 1990, European studies in 1991, comparative/U.S. government and macroeconomics in 1997, and world studies in 2001. He has been a U.S. history reader and wrote the Bibliography and Resources for the AP World History Teacher's Guide. He has a deep interest in world history and was a world history fellow of the Woodrow Wilson National Foundation at Princeton in 1993 and a two-year NEH fellow studying India and China at Cal Poly Pomona. Bill is currently working with his school to implement Vertical Team and Building Success strategies.
Education: Bill holds a bachelor's degree in history from San Diego State University and is in the process of completing his master's thesis, detailing the development of a transnational identity.
Personal: In high school, Bill participated in an AFS year abroad to New Zealand, and has since been an advocate of intercultural experiences. Though he and his wife Marianne live in San Diego, they enjoy travel throughout the U.S. and abroad, and have taken a number of students to Europe. An avid reader, Bill also enjoys movies, hiking, cooking, and gardening.
