Ron Olson, an Advanced Placement Program® U.S. history teacher, has 10 years of AP experience and 20 years of teaching experience.
Professional experience: Ron started teaching in 1981 at private schools in Colorado and Texas. Once he began teaching in public schools, Ron spent the next two years teaching history and English at two schools in Colorado and New Mexico. In 1988, Ron moved to Roswell, New Mexico, where he taught history and English. In 1991, Ron began the AP US history program at Roswell High School and continued there for five years. In 1995, Ron moved to Washington to teach at Gov. John R. Rogers High School, and in 1997 he took over the AP U.S. history program there.
Ron began working for the College Board® as a faculty consultant in 1994 and as a reader in San Antonio for AP U.S. history. His current goal is to work on vertical teaming strategies with other AP teachers, AP-feeder teachers, and junior high school teachers in order to strengthen and broaden the AP program in his high school.

Ron has also attended a variety of AP workshops (including being a 1992 Melon Grant recipient) in New Mexico, Texas, and Washington.
Personal: Besides teaching, Ron has coached soccer, served as a yearbook adviser, and served as the editor of the monthly PEA newsletter. His hobbies include photography, cooking, gardening, and singing. He lives in a new home in Buckley, Washington, with his wife, Lynne, and the family cocker spaniel, Fred.
