Bruce McMenomy is a freelance scholar and contract instructor in distance education. He teaches English, Latin, and Greek through the Scholars' Online and Regina Coeli Academies, primarily to a clientele of home-schooled high school students across the U.S. and abroad (http://www.islas.org). He also tutors a handful of students privately.
Professional experience: Bruce began teaching for the Scholars' Online Academy in 1995, and his regular offerings now include five levels of English, four years of Greek, and AP Latin. He has also intermittently taught world history, Old English, Mediaeval Latin, and a sixth level of English. In addition to teaching, Bruce worked for a while as a contract editor, and also as a programmer for various small projects on the Macintosh and UNIX systems.
Education: Bruce holds a bachelor's in history from Pomona College, a master's in history from UCLA, and a master's and Ph.D. in classics from UCLA. His field of specialization is Mediaeval Latin, and his dissertation is a partial edition of the Matthew commentary of Claudius of Turin.
Personal: Bruce is a home-schooling parent who resides in Bellevue, Washington, with his wife, Christie. They have three children (one in graduate school, one in college, and one still at home), the occasional small pet, and far too many books. |
