The College Board

Susan Kornstein is the director of content development for the K-12 Professional Development department of the College Board.

Professional experience: Susan taught mathematics at both the college and high school level for 26 years. Her most recent teaching jobs were as head of the mathematics department at Horace Mann School in New York City and as AP Calculus and AP Statistics teacher at Rye Country Day School in Rye, New York. Susan has been involved in the Advanced Placement Program as a calculus Reader since 1989 and has been both a Table Leader and Question Leader at the AP Calculus Reading. In addition, she has given many one-day and weeklong workshops and institutes for the College Board® for AP Calculus, AP Statistics, and Mathematics Vertical Teams. Susan was awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, the MAA Edyth May Sliffe Award for Distinguished High School Mathematics Teaching, and the RadioShack National Teacher Award.

Education: Susan attended New York City public schools, including the Bronx High School of Science, and has a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the City College of New York (Belden Prize in Advanced Calculus) and master's and M.Phil degrees in statistics from Yale University.

Personal: Susan lives in Hartsdale, New York, with her husband Dan, a lawyer. Susan enjoys the theater and museums in Manhattan and the garden in her backyard.
