Peter Warsaw

Peter Warsaw has been a teacher-performer at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, for 18 years. For the last decade, he has worked with the College Board®, both as a member of the AP Music Development Committee and as an AP reader.

Professional experience: After several years of freelance piano teaching, performing, and accompanying, Peter began his academic teaching career at the Brooks School, where he developed the music department from 1975 to 78. Following graduate study, he returned to academic teaching at Phillips Academy, serving as the music department chair from 1991 to 1996. Besides teaching music theory at Andover, he also teaches theory at New England Conservatory in the preparatory department. He is a founding member of the Abbot Trio, which recently released a CD of Haydn, Mendelssohn, and Ravel. He has given solo and duo recitals throughout the country (mostly in New England), some of which have been broadcast on National Public Radio. He has soloed with the Boston Pops, and this past year he collaborated with Yo-Yo Ma.

Education: Peter holds a bachelor's from Harvard, and both the M.M. and D.M.A. degrees in piano performance and literature from the Eastman School of Music.

Personal: Peter lives in New Hampshire with his wife, Ada, and two teenage daughters: Arianna (a violinist) and Marina (a cellist). He spends his summers with family, working at the piano, and nurturing his other passion: golf.
