Heinz-Peter Kempe is a German teacher, soccer coach, German club adviser, dorm faculty adviser, German exchange program director, and Chair of the Department of Classical and Modern Languages at Mercersburg Academy, a co-ed boarding school (9-12) located in the small town of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania.
Professional experience: Peter has been teaching German in the U.S. since 1986 and at the Mercersburg Academy since 1994. He has taught all levels of German, from elementary school to university, and served from 1995 to 2000 on the Advanced Placement® German Test Development Committee. He has also been a faculty consultant and reader for the College Board® since 1995.
Education: Peter holds a diploma in English, Physical Education, and German from the University of Hannover in Germany and a master's degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
Personal: Peter's favorite hobbies are reading German and English fiction and non-fiction books, working out and jogging, playing with his children, watching sci-fi movies, and traveling. He and his wife, Lucia, live in a dormitory house with their children Anika, Stefan, and Antonia.
