Hugh Henderson

Hugh Henderson is an AP Physics teacher at Plano Senior High School in Plano, Texas, where he has taught for over 16 years.

Professional Experience: Hugh began teaching physics at Plano Senior High School in 1985, and has taught AP Physics since 1988. Since 1993, he has been a reader for the AP Physics Exams, helping to set standards and grade the free-response portions of the exams. In 1995 Hugh was a contributor to the Teacher's Guide to the Advanced Placement Program in Physics, and served as a member of the AP Physics Test Development Committee from 1997 to 2000. He wrote the SAT II: Physics exam review book, which is due out next May, and published the article, "A Dialogue in Paradise: John Milton's Visit with Galileo" in a recent issue of The Physics Teacher magazine. Hugh has led workshops around the country for teachers and students in physics curriculum and test preparation, and this fall will present a talk on AP physics at the European Council of International Schools conference in the Netherlands.

Education: Hugh received his bachelor's degree in physics from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, and earned a master's in physics and teaching from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Personal: Hugh lives in Plano, Texas with his wife, Rachel, his two-year-old son, Drew, and his Shetland sheepdog, Dalton. He enjoys teaching and writing, and researching topics in the history of science.
