Ron Dirkse

Ron Dirkse has taught at the American School in Japan (AISJ) since 1974.
Professional: At ASIJ, Ron graded the AP Computer Exam for five years and the AP Statistics Exam for the past four summers. This year he has two sections of AP Statistics, two sections of Accelerated Geometry, and one section of FST.
Education: Ron has a bachelor's degree from Calvin College, where he majored in math and minored in psychology, French, and education. He received a master's in math education from Western Michigan and a master's in computer science education from the University of Oregon. He also has coursework from Andrews University and Columbia University.
Personal: Ron is originally from western Michigan and lived there about 27 years. He has a wife, Miki, a son, Tai, in 8th grade, and a daughter, Ilesha, in 5th grade (also Whiskers the cat, and Ginger the dog). In his spare time, Ron enjoys reading, tennis, golf, travel, and carpentry. The family usually spends part of the summer in the States and the other part at their cottage north of Karuizawa, Japan. |
