Tony Anderson has taught Spanish and math for 14 years at Pleasant Grove Junior High School in Utah. He has been the math department chairperson there for several years and is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. He especially enjoys teaching and learning more about geometry.
Jennifer Kumi Burkett is a math teacher at Walter Payton College Prep High School, a public math and science and world language academy in Chicago, Illinois. She has a B.S. in mathematics from Wheaton College and a master's degree in education from Harvard University and is in her fifth year of teaching. A member of the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, she is currently a candidate for National Board Certification. When she is not teaching math or doing math, she enjoys reading, singing, and listening to music.
Gail Burrill was a secondary teacher and department chair in suburban Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for over 25 years and spent time as an associate researcher at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While on leave from the University of Wisconsin, she served as president of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and as director of the Mathematical Sciences Education Board. She is now on the faculty at Michigan State University. As an instructor for Teachers Teaching with Technology, she does workshops around the country on using technology in the classroom.
Joyce Frost has taught math in Lake Washington School District for 27 years and has degrees in mathematics and music. She serves on the board of the Puget Sound Council of Teachers of Mathematics and belongs to the Washington State Math Council and National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. In addition, she is on the staff of the Northwest Mathematics Interaction through the University of Washington and will serve this summer on the staff of the Park City Mathematics Institute through the Institute for Advanced Study.
Jerry Gribble has been teaching for 27 years. He is currently a teacher at Provo High School in Provo, Utah, where he also coaches chess. This year, his team took second place in the Utah state chess championships and competed in the National High School Chess Championship Tournament in Dallas. He has 10 children and eight grandchildren.
Jill Ryerson has a degree in mathematics and visual arts from Brown University and has taught math for three years at Graland Country Day School in Denver, Colorado. She spent last summer at the Park City Mathematics Institute and enjoyed having time to both reflect on practice and to dive into higher math again. She loves living in Colorado, and when she's not busy thinking about math, she spends her time making pottery, hiking and playing old-time banjo.
Celeste Williams has taught math at Holy Names Academy, Seattle, for four years. She has a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a master's in education. She is involved with the Northwest Mathematics Interaction and is a participant in the Park City Mathematics Institute for Advanced Study.
