Important Note: AP Course Audit Syllabus Submission for
AP French Literature

Periodically, changes are made to the AP French Courses based on trends in college/university French courses. In order to maintain a college equivalence, the course and exam are periodically revised to reflect evolving college/university curricula. The AP French Development Committee, which is comprised of AP French teachers and college/university faculty who teach corresponding courses, adopted a plan to implement changes to the AP French Literature course and exam for 2008.  The changes are outlined on apcentral.collegeboard.com/frenchlit

As part of the AP Course Audit, beginning in January 2007, each AP teacher must submit a syllabus outlining the course of study to be followed for the 2007-08 academic year. To receive authorization to label your course "AP," your syllabus should corroborate what you and your principal attest on the AP Course Audit form. Each of the curricular requirements listed on the AP Course Audit form should be reflected in your syllabus. Your syllabus can demonstrate the inclusion of the curricular requirements in a variety of ways: through the organization of course content, the course readings, the assignments and assessments, and/or the descriptions of what the major assignments and assessments are designed to measure.

One of the curricular requirements is that the course be structured to allow students to complete the entire AP French Literature reading list. Abridged versions or films are not appropriate in place of the text.   Since the new AP French Literature Reading list will be required for 2007-2008, the syllabus that AP French Literature teachers submit for the AP Course Audit must reflect the new list.

For examples of how to demonstrate the 2007-2008 reading list in your syllabus, please refer to the sample syllabi and samples of evidence posted on AP Central under Resources for Teachers and Administrators at the following link:
