Participate in the Program
There are many ways college and university faculty members can help maintain the high standards of the AP Program.
Participate in a College Comparability Study
To conduct these studies, college faculty members agree to:
- Administer a section of the AP Exam to their students as one of the test requirements for the course;
- Provide the AP Program with the grades the students received on the AP Exam as graded by the professor; and
- Provide the AP Program with the final grades of the students for the course.
Every year these college comparability studies are performed in several subjects. In 2004, studies were conducted in calculus, computer science, statistics, and English literature. Contact Andrea Mazzacano (amazzacano@ets.org) for more information.
Institutions or departments can conduct their own comparability study by administering a published AP Exam at the end of the comparable introductory college-level course. Use the AP rubrics to score the exam and see how your students' performance compares with the general AP student population. For exam materials and further information contact Andrea Mazzacano (amazzacano@ets.org).
Be an AP Reader

Contribute Multiple-Choice Test Items for the AP Exam
College and university faculty members may contribute multiple-choice test items for review by the Development Committee and possible inclusion in the AP Exam. For more information contact Andrea Mazzacano (amazzacano@ets.org).
Become an AP Workshop Consultant
The participation of college faculty in AP workshops helps ensure that high school teachers understand the perspective and expectations of the comparative college courses to the AP courses they teach.
