Celebrating AP Student Art
The artwork of AP Studio Art students will be exhibited at three locations this fall. Thirty national selections and 15 extra selections that highlighted the talent of Florida students were exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami (MOCA) from September 15 to 24. The national selections will appear next at the David J. Brodsky Gallery in Princeton, New Jersey, from September 30 through October 20, and then at the art gallery of the College Board in New York from October 28 to November 18.
The artwork was selected from approximately 19,000 portfolios that were submitted as part of the AP Studio Art portfolio evaluations in May 2002. The works in the exhibition were chosen to represent the best artwork by students who participated in the AP Studio Art program as part of an annual celebration of AP student work. The works, which were chosen without regard for geography, are from 11 states, as well as the District of Columbia and the Philippines.
"The artwork presented indicates the sophisticated level of achievement that students can reach while taking an AP course," said College Board President Gaston Caperton. "This exhibition of accomplished work by AP Studio Art students features art executed in a variety of media and representing extraordinary clarity of thought, and a great diversity of content, style, and technique."
