Briefly Define the Nature of your concentration project.
The nature of my concentration is public and self-awareness. I have touched of public awareness and self-awareness by using digital photography and computer manipulation as my artistic tool. In my first two series I've used objects that are seen everyday as a way to communicate more concisely with the public. The third series I've used my own experiences and my self-portrait for communicating my idea.
Briefly define the development of your concentration and the sources of your ideas. You may refer to specific pieces as examples.
Public and social awareness are my two main focuses in my concentration. My first series, slies 1-4, addressed drug use in schools today. In this series I used textual information combined with digital photography and computer manipulation, along with figures and objects that are socially known. The second series slides 5-7, focused on drunk driving. In this series I emphasized the textual information by placing it in boxes which contrasted with the pictorial imagery. I did this to emphasize the importance of the problem. My last series is about self-awareness, slides 8-16. Each slide depicts the struggle connected trying to break out the real world, as if stuck under glass. I used digital photography to create the self-portrait images, in each image I manipulated the figures with the computer to emphasize the emotion of a struggle. Instead of using graphs, charts and statistics I composed my own text to convey my feelings.
What media did you use?
In my concentration I used a digital camera to collect my images. I used Adobe PhotoShop to manipulate my images, for each image I changed the color and contrast; I also used filters to create the mood and emotion I communicated to the viewer.
