Briefly define the nature of your concentration project.
In creating this series of evening dresses, I focused on how various fabrics reacted and influenced the outcome of the drapery. I was able to control and manipulate the personality of the draped fabric, while being sensitive to the true uniqueness that the fabric has to offer. I learned that anything from weight to color to texture has a direct effect on how the fabric falls. I realized that with each different fabric I used, a unique style was born.
Briefly describe the development of your concentration project and the sources of your ideas. You may refer to specific slides as examples.
In slides 1, 2, 7, 8, 11, and 12, I used two different colored fabrics that not only enhanced the appearance but added dimension to the draping. In slides 3 and 4, I purposely chose a pink fuzzy fabric that would elaborate the color and drapery and give a feminine feeling. In slides 5 and 6, I used a transparent and solid fabric in conjunction with feathers to create a controlled contour outline that personified the seductive appeal of the draped fabric. In slides 9 and 10, I wanted to emulate the renaissance style while adding my own unique formula.
What medium or media did you use?
I used a wide variety of media. I used different types of fabrics, feathers, beads, ribbon, rope, wire, string and glue. Glue was my best friend.
