This three-hour exam has two sections:
Section I is a one-hour multiple-choice section covering Latin poetry and prose. Three of the four passages in this section are the same as those for Latin Literature; the fourth passage is syllabus-based, from Vergil's Aeneid. The three common passages test students' ability to read and understand Latin poetry and prose, while the fourth passage tests their knowledge of passages that have been read in the AP course.
Section II is two hours long, including a 15-minute reading period and one hour and 45 minutes of actual writing time. Students are asked to write five essays and translations to show how well they can comprehend, translate, analyze, and interpret the lines of the Aeneid that appear on the course syllabus.
