Exams: 2001 Studio Art 2-D Design: Breadth Samples

2-D Design Breadth: Section III

The student samples for 2-D Design: Breadth were submitted in June 2001. As you may know, this year the Studio Art courses have been reorganized from two courses, Studio Art: General and Studio Art: Drawing, to three courses -- Studio Art: Drawing, Studio Art: 2-D Design, and Studio Art: 3-D Design. All of the samples included here were submitted in "General" portfolios but were chosen because they are an excellent range of works that would fit into portfolios for the new categories.

An attempt was made to choose works that cover widely different ways of working within each portfolio; however, we fully expect that the universe of works that Studio Art students will create for 2-D and 3-D portfolios will explore new directions and new media. All of the works chosen here came from Breadth sections that received very high scores. The selections were made without regard for who the students are or where they attended school.
