The AP Comparative Government and Politics Exam

Exam Content

AP Exams in Government and Politics were introduced in 1987. The following skills, abilities, and knowledge are tested on the exam:
  • Knowledge of important facts pertaining to the governments and politics of China, Great Britain, Iran, Mexico, Nigeria, and Russia
  • Understanding of major comparative political concepts, themes, and generalizations
  • Understanding of typical patterns of political processes and behavior and their consequences
  • Ability to compare and contrast political institutions and processes across countries and to derive generalizations
  • Ability to analyze and interpret basic data relevant to comparative government and politics
