Rationale for Score:
This portfolio demonstrates a clear understanding of three-dimensional design concepts. The use of light and shadow captures the importance of value in the sculptures depicted. Value contrast accents in the relief sculptures (pieces 1 and 2) show the depth of the forms. The use of symmetrical and asymmetrical balance, as well as  movement, are displayed throughout the portfolio—piece 5, for example, shows asymmetrical balance and an implied motion, thus exhibiting ambitious risk-taking. There is confidence in executing symmetrical balance in piece 6. Overall, this body of work displays technical accomplishments with a range of media that successfully synthesizes to communicate visual ideas of form and content.
