Exams: 2006 Studio Art 3-D Design: Breadth -- Stephanie N. Sharma

Agoura High School
Agoura Hills, CA

Rationale for Score:

A broad range of sculptural problems is addressed.

Various techniques and clay processes are used successfully to demonstrate breadth.

Ambitious experimentation is shown with a range of colors and surfaces, including glaze application, stains, and crackle.

The work demonstrates technical mastery of hand-built forms.

Work 6 demonstrates thoughtful experimentation with the open linear treatment of space.

Concept, technique, and contrast in the surface of works 3 and 5 indicate a high level of achievement.

The successful simulation of materials is achieved in work 3.

Works 3 and 6 present an imaginative exploration of different figure/ground relationships in terms of 3-D   forms.

The portfolio reflects clear decision-making and risk-taking; overall, the quality of the work is strong. The excellent slide quality made the works easy to view and evaluate.
