Briefly define the nature of your concentration project.
The main focus of my concentration is coil-built forms with spiky, abstract textures applied to the surface. I have also incorporated words that meant something to me -- and, I felt, connected with the pieces -- onto the surface. I have leaned more toward cool colors because they fit more with my personality.
Briefly describe the development of your concentration project and the sources of your ideas. You may refer to specific slides as examples.
I started my concentration with slide 1*. I decided to keep going with this style because I found the spikes to be an interesting contrast to the subtle curvatures of my hand-built forms, as in slide 3. I personally had not seen anything like what I made, and I kept expanding on my idea. As my concentration developed, the spikes began to change as I changed. That development led me to the melting look that seems to complement the curvatures, rather than contrast them as the spikes did.
What medium of media did you use?
The medium I used for my concentration was red earthenware clay, and glazes made from chemicals stored in our studio.
* Important Note:
The numbers of the slides run from top left to bottom right.
