Creation and Location of Early Cities In this lesson, the students become familiar with the basic creation models of city formation and the importance of location and economics. Activity One is an introductory lesson for them to discover topographical importance. Activity Two demonstrates importance of location of resources and their perceived value. This is geared to the AP Human Geography student because individual analysis will be key in their understanding of these concepts.
How Industrialization Affects Culture and the Environment This lesson attempts to identify the effects of industrialization on culture and the environment. Students will identify the effects of industrialization in a case study of the Three Rivers Gorge Project along the Yangtze River in the People's Republic of China, and then will conduct a field study to determine if industrialization has similar results in local communities.
