Ursula's History Web has a long, adoring article on Catherine the Great. It was written by the Web keeper, Ursula Grosser Dixon, who describes herself as a novice historian. She addresses the men in Catherine's life and how Catherine died in another section. There is another article on Catherine at the Alexander Palace Time Machine, lovingly created by Bob Atchison, which is continually updated and has become a major trove of Romanov information. About.com also has an article with links.

Students who explore these sites will find out enough about Catherine's policies to make their own judgments about her.
It is hard to escape scurrilous tidbits about Catherine. Some may be found at:

www.historyhouse.com/in_history/catherine_two

The latter says basically: they ain't true.
