Assignment
Generally:
  • There are three categories of patients: critical, major, and minor.
  • There are two categories of beds: critical and other.
  • Critical beds are for critical patients only.
  • Other beds are used for critical, major, and minor, based on severity and time of arrival.
  • Patients require treatment for a random number of minutes. The clock starts running when the patient is assigned a bed.
  • If a critical patient arrives and no beds are available, a noncritical patient is bumped out to make room.
  • Patients bumped out of treatment are put at the head of the queue for their category (major or minor) and resume treatment when possible.
Track the number of people in each queue and the average wait time and treatment time.

Teacher's Comments
This assignment is fairly complex and can be rewritten later in the year using a priority queue.
