Vocabulary Lists for AP Human Geography Units

by Martha Sharma
Retired Teacher

A Compilation of Key Terms
This vocabulary list was originally developed for use in my own AP Human Geography classes. However, I have also used it every year in the workshops I have taught, and I have shared it with friends who were giving workshops.

The list was created by going through each of the five main human geography textbooks and compiling all of the terms that appear in bold type in each book. Then I added some terms that I thought needed to be there. The terms are organized by units in the topic outline found in the AP Human Geography Course Description, and a number of terms repeat from unit to unit as they show up in different contexts.

This list is not intended to be comprehensive or final, nor should readers expect that questions on the exam will be limited to the scope of the list.
