FEMA The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) handles natural disaster response in the United States. The Web site has stories about the latest emergencies and the types of responses that FEMA has provided.
Flood! This NOVA site is extremely well developed and looks at flood devastation from a number of angles.
Kobe (earthquake) This site is a list of links to information about the huge Japanese earthquake and the response of the people to the disaster.
Global Warming NOVA and Frontline combine to examine this "hot" topic.
ReliefWeb This site provides information for the humanitarian relief community. The site has links to most countries including a "disaster history" link.
Tornadoes! The Deadliest Tornadoes from National Geographic This site provides text and graphics of recent tornadoes. A description of tornadic activity, a link to other tornado sites, and a list of the 10 worst tornadoes are all here. This page is updated periodically and may not always contain the same information.
Tsunami! Tsunami! is an Internet site, hosted by the Geophysical Department at the University of Washington, that has been developed to provide general information about tsunamis. It contains extensive background information that is intended primarily for the general public, including information about the mechanisms of tsunami generation and propagation, the impact of tsunamis on humankind, and the Tsunami Warning System. This site also contains more detailed information about recent tsunami events that will be of interest to tsunami and interdisciplinary researchers.
Volcano Watch This site shows satellite views of the 10 most active volcanoes in the world.
Volcano World A Web site from the University of North Dakota with a wide variety of information about volcanic activities and responses. Mount Helena is included at this site.
World Disaster Relief This site keeps track of the disasters in the world and the responses to them. The viewer may select current disaster stores, stories within the last 30 days, or any disaster story ever written. Stories may also be selected by type of disaster. The Disaster Relief Web site is a cooperative effort between the American Red Cross, CNN Interactive, and IBM.
