Introduction
There are countless Web sites out there that pertain to art history, studio art, drawing, artists, artworks, and so on. Narrowing the list down to those educational sites that will help teachers and students is a huge task. Every time there is a new assignment or a new unit, each teacher will have individual preferences, and since we expect our students to create original work, finding a common Web site for all students to reference for an assignment is not always possible.
The Web sites presented here attempt to cover the divergent thinking and creativity that we expect in the arts. Many are general sites that lead you to links that expand the range of your search. There are management sites, sites to help score assignments, and lesson plans of every size and rigor. Other sites present advocacy ideas and granting sources. Students might use some of the sites to research artists, eras, styles, and dictionaries of terms. There are even some sites that deal with careers and scholarships. Finally, there are a few museum sites, with thousands more to be found. In other words, this is the tip of the iceberg. Searching for more Web sites can be an interesting adventure for both student and teacher. Think of these as a place to start.

Marge Dickinson taught visual art for 25 years in the Galva School District at all levels. She took early retirement in 1994 to become a consultant to school districts in Illinois focusing on curriculum, assessment, school improvement, and professional development in the fine arts. She is a past president of the Illinois Art Education Association, a distinguished member of IAEA, and the editor of Mosaic, the newsletter of IAEA. Her work as Fine Arts Team Leader with the Illinois State Board of Education resulted in the Web publication of the Fine Arts Performance Descriptors, a series of lessons with performance assessment rubrics for the fine arts (dance, drama, music, and visual arts).
