AP Biology Demonstrations

Introduction
These demonstrations were first presented at a "Prop Share Evening" at the AP Biology Reading in Lincoln, Nebraska, in June of 2003. The idea for this area of AP Central originated from a series of emails on the AP Biology Electronic Discussion Group as biology teachers talked about their favorite ideas for demonstrating difficult-to-understand topics. Some of these demonstrations are very elaborate (needing some advance preparation), while others are very simple and short. Some are teacher demonstrations, while others are great laboratory exercises.

  Primate Characteristics and Exaptation
Prop to Illustrate Lab 6: Bacterial Transformation Using Restriction Endonuclease
  Lab Materials
  Using Balloons to Teach Biology
  The Genetics of Antibody Diversity
  Evolution and Photosynthesis
  Genetics Accountability Box
  Gum Drop Protein Synthesis
  Biology Demos
  Cheap and Easy Operon

The Prop Share evening was the brainchild of Bobbie Hinson, Tricia Glidewell, and Leslie Haines. Franklin Bell donated his time and effort to pull together the documents into a Web page for all to see and access on the Internet.

If you have a great idea for a demonstration of another difficult concept that you would like to see added to this page, please email teacherresources@collegeboard.org.
