Velcro Plasmid
Inexpensive Velcro was purchased at a crafts/fabric store. The colors represent different parts: white (plasmid), blue (SmaHI insert), and red (EcoRI insert). Cut sites were labeled with permanent markers. The Velcro is wide (2 inches), and it can be easily used in a large classroom/lecture hall.

Tangle Toys
Tangle Toys can be purchased via the Internet or by telephone. The plastic twists can be put together in different ways and can represent plasmids/inserts or the different levels of protein structure. The toys can be twisted into a variety of shapes.
