Introduction to Descriptive Statistics
This site provides notes, examples, sample problems, and links for an introductory statistics course, specifically measures of center and measures of spread. It is provided by M2T2: Mathematics Materials for Tomorrow's Teachers from the Office for Mathematics, Science, and Technology Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Of particular note is the problem "How Much Money Do Baseball Players Really Make?" It provides an activity, along with teacher commentary, for exploring variance through the use of Geometer's Sketchpad or Excel.
