The Civics Connection: A Conversation with Congress-The Lou Frey Institute

The Civics Connection is a project completed in partnership with the Lou Frey Institute at the University of Central Florida (www.loufreyinstitute.org) and the United States Association of Former Members of Congress (www.usafmc.org) that features five modules, ranging from the "War Powers Act" to "Campaign Advertising in Congressional Races," and containing 16 videos with student and teacher resources. The 15-minute videos feature interviews with former members of Congress speaking from personal experience about a variety of issues that relate to the AP U.S. Government and Politics topic outline. A downloadable teacher's manual outlines the five topic areas of the videos (Personal Observations About Congressional Life, Congressional Campaigns, Congressional Interactions, Congressional Function and Process, and Public Policy), and describes the host of support materials, including primary sources and graphic tools.
