Title: Biology with Calculators
Author: David Scott; Holman Masterson
Course: Biology
Abstract/Summary: This lab book is designed to be used with Vernier probes, a TI 83+ calculator, and an interface (Lab Pro or CBL2). The instructions are clear and easy to follow. There is a section for teachers that contains set-up information, tips to avoid mistakes, and answers to the questions. Many of these labs have the same objectives as the AP Labs and are interesting alternative labs. They give good data and take less time to set up and run, leaving more time for multiple runs and the collecting of additional data or the investigation of other variables.

The labs that most closely follow the AP Labs are Enzyme Catalysis, Transpiration, Respiration, and Photosynthesis. The Transpiration, Respiration, and Enzyme Labs all use the Bio Gas Pressure Probe. The Photosynthesis Lab uses the Colorimeter, a less expensive alternative to a Spectrophotometer.

CAUTION: if you are using the original CBL, you must order Biology with CBL. This book has instruction for both CBL and the Vernier probes.
