AP FAQs

What are some of the most common mistakes students make when writing their essays?
Students must practice writing concisely. When writing an essay response, they should not repeat the question and they should not include introductory or concluding paragraphs. They must answer the question completely and be alert to questions containing multiple tasks. Students must also work within the time constraints of the AP Exam. Successful essay writing for the AP Art History Exam may differ from what students learn in their English classes. Student discussions about artworks can help develop ideas and thought processes for essay writing.
