Some schools require any student enrolled in an AP course to take the AP Exam. More commonly, students must sign up for the exam on their own. The number one reason given by students who choose not to take the exam after taking the course is fear of not doing well. A teacher can remove much of this anxiety by covering a majority of the outline and by demonstrating to the students that they have definitely mastered the information and skills well enough to achieve a good score on the exam. -- Carolyn Schofield Bronson
