The AP Biology topic outline covers all of the major topics that fall under the biology umbrella -- an incredibly broad vista! Many schools rely on the close association between their introductory biology and AP courses so that some basic concepts and lab work can be conducted during the introductory biology class, leaving more time for the AP instructor to cover more difficult and abstract concepts. Others have gained time by requiring co-enrollment in an Anatomy and Physiology course, assuring that students will have much of the animal structure and function material covered. The AP Biology Teacher's Guide has several different syllabi of successful AP teachers illustrating how they cover the course material.
