An AP course is taught at the introductory college level, and therefore an up-to-date college text is essential for students. There are many excellent comprehensive biology books available, so teachers must weigh the needs of their particular students, reading level, depth of coverage, and assistance offered to students within the book or at Internet sites or on accompanying CD-ROMs. Reviews for most of the current titles can be found in the Teachers' Resources area of AP Central, offering information concerning strengths and weaknesses of each edition. -- Carolyn Schofield
